Projects
The Penelakut Stewardship and Monitoring Program (SMP)
The SMP undertakes a number of projects on land, in streams and in the ocean. Priority areas for monitoring are selected through meetings with community members, Elders and Knowledge Keepers. Any given area may be the focus of several projects, depending on the goals of the Stewardship Plan of that area. Staff regularly work with consultants to learn and practice procedures when working with leading edge tools to achieve the goals set out for each project. Some projects have defined start and end dates, while others will be ongoing for decades to come.
